Advice and support in event of dismissal

The Päijät-Häme Employment Services provide advice and support to employees and employers in situations of change and dismissal of employment.

The employment authority helps laid-off and dismissed employees find re-employment or training in cooperation with the employer's representatives and the personnel or their representatives.

Advice and support for employees

You can receive advice and support from the employment authority for job search, re-employment and improving professional skills.

Employees dismissed for production or financial reasons receive support for re-employment already during the notice period. If you are dismissed, you are entitled to paid leave when you draw up an employment plan or participate in the workforce training, job search or reintegration training agreed in the plan.

Advice and support for employers

The employment authority provides advice to employers in situations of operational adjustment. Most often, the situations involve actions targeting personnel, such as part-time work, layoffs or dismissals.

In the event of a change in employment, the employer has obligations that depend on the number of employees and how many people must be dismissed or laid off.

The employer is obliged to notify the employment authorities of the dismissals if the dismissals affect at least ten employees. In such a change situation, the employer must draw up an action plan to promote employment, which explains how the job search and training of the dismissed will be supported.

In addition, the employer must inform those over 55 of the extended transition protection for those being dismissed.
