Most of the services of Päijät-Häme Employment Services are provided for people who have registered as job seekers. As a customer of Päijät-Häme Employment Services, specialists from the Employment Services will advise and guide you in applying for work and choosing the right services.
The Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela) and unemployment funds pay unemployment security only to persons who have registered as job seekers. The Päijät-Häme Employment Services will issue a statement on the matter to the payer of the benefit.
Register as a job seeker and start searching for jobs primarily in the Job Market Finland e-service. If you cannot identify yourself in the service, call the personal customers service number or visit one of the offices of the Päijät-Häme Employment Services. Register as a job seeker at the latest on your first day of unemployment or lay-off. You can also register as a job seeker even if you have a job.
When you want to end your job search or your situation changes in some other way, report it in the e-service.

When you register as a job seeker, you must describe your work experience, training and competence. Gather this information from your certificates. In order to receive unemployment security, you must accurately record the details of the work you have performed for the purpose of the statement.
The registration method depends on the country in which you are a citizen, and whether you are registering as a job seeker for the first time.
Finnish citizen
Start your job search in the Job Market Finland e-service. You may also register as a job seeker by phone if your identity can be verified on the basis of, for example, your customer data.
EU/EEA citizen
If you have a Finnish personal identity code, start your job search in the Job Market Finland e-service.
You may also register as a job seeker by phone if the contents of your residence permit card are up to date and your identity can be verified on the basis of, for example, your customer data.
The Päijät-Häme Employment Services will contact you in order to arrange an initial interview. For the initial assessment referred to in the Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration and the preparation of an integration plan, you must present a certificate of registration of the residence of an EU citizen or a residence card for a family member of an EU citizen.
Citizen of some other country holding a residence permit
You can register as a job seeker by phone if the contents of your residence permit card are up to date in our system and your identity can be verified on the basis of, for example, your customer data.
If you do not have a valid residence permit but have applied for an extended residence permit, the Päijät-Häme Employment Services will check whether you can register as a job seeker.

Ukrainian citizen
Those who have fled the war in Ukraine can work in Finland without restrictions after receiving a residence permit on the basis of temporary protection.

You can register as a job seeker using strong identification in the Job Market Finland e-service. If you do not have online banking codes, a mobile certificate, or an identity card with a microchip, you can call the Päijät-Häme Employment Services service number for personal customers or visit an office of the Päijät-Häme Employment Services.
